Learning to Tell Folktales

This six week course is focused on traditional folktales and the basic tools of storytelling. I have taught storytelling for over 35 years in colleges and universities, and will help you identify stories, shape them, and tell them in your own words.  The classes will be about 90 minutes long. 

• Session One:     Background of traditional tales; finding structure for telling 
• Session Two:     Playing with stories, adapting stories
• Session Three:  Exploring imagery in stories
• Session Four:    Exploring language in stories
• Session Five:    Practicing: tools, strategies, goals
• Session Six:      Sharing stories
